Solo exhibition at the Gallery Velenje, 15 Dec 2021 - 15 Jan 2022.
Wearables, objects, interactive sculptures.
The exhibition was presented as a narrative of old and new works, shaped as an invitation to the public to immerse themselves in the author's sensibility, her experience and navigation of the self, the reconsidered function of objects and the exploration of the moment in which we exist. Through the pieces, the visitor could explore his own subjectivity. The constant that appeared in the work is the body, the found and the everyday object, the emotional content interwoven into a reimagined object. The body was invoked through various modes of presence and absence, ultimately through the activation of the visitor. The mundane was mixed with magical, serving an imaginary functional world.
The exhibition included three bigger blocks of work:
Clinic for the Self
Little Marta
Jenny
The webpage is under construction to allow more written content.
Clinic for the Self creates space for one’s emotional and mental calmness. It is a space for re-connection and grounding. The works adorn and complete the human by serving as explorational tools and makeshift habitats for discovering a more fulfilled, authentic, triumphant self, overcoming and addressing some of the pressing topics of everyday life.
"Reflecting together" is a work in the shape of a medical room divider. Instead of the curtains/shades, the divider is made out of sheets of Stopsol glass which work as semi transparent-mirrors. They reflect back the image while as well allowing to see through to the other side of the divider. When visitors stand on both sides simultaneously, they can see themselves and the other at the same time. The room divider that usually separates becomes a connector that encourages exchange, acceptance, and understanding and reminds us not to get lost in the other or vice versa, not to be erased by others but to be an equal to each other. Finding a collective harmless way out of our unbalanced co-existence.
