Stone for Self-reflection, object, 2021. Materials : Rock, mirror, magnifying lense, metal.
Interactive sculpture, transitional object
The Stone for Self-Reflection is generating an intimate space for self-reflection via reflecting the magnified eye back to the beholder. Inside the stone, there is a magnifying lens and behind it a mirror. The stone serves as a facilitator for the profound connection that is established with oneself by looking inside of it. The reflecting eye creates an eye-opening experience with oneself. The stone is a symbol of endurance, stability and being grounded. “Yet the common stone surrounds us everywhere and we give it little value”. * The raw stone is carrying as well the meaning of freedom and androgyny. It is this powerful, wise, grounding mundanity that I find fascinating and subsequently a perfect cradle for Self-Reflecting observances.
