The series “Eggsploration” explores and broadens the idea of fertility beyond mere reproduction, asking, “What is the fertile Self?” and “How is the fertile Self?” In a witty, practical, humble and magical way, it delves into the meaning of fertility, offering a set of tools and protective spaces that provide transition to an attuned, fertile state within oneself. The work is shaped out of symbolic daily materials (found objects) such as eggshells, egg packaging, ladles, bed sheets, and soil, combined with more precious materials such as porcelain powder, leather and metals. Through exploring fertility, it questions the concepts of life, legacy and mortality. The series delves into the soothing idea that we never truly varnish, highlighting our interconnectedness through our bodies turning into one common entity. Are bodies essential to existence? Are we floating consciousness? Where do we go? Where our dreams go? The theme touches upon current socio-economic-political imposing demands, seeks to transcend pre-set pressures and personal or ancestral fears that might come knocking in different shapes or forms. It draws from diverse philosophies, shamanic practices, mythologies, and psychologies, each offering unique perspectives on the nature of being.

Mind resort is a domestic temple for silence and a good example of the union that runs deep through the whole Eggsploration series. The union between the everyday and the eternal, the urban myth and the ancient truth. It offers a place of transit from the daily buzz into a moment of stillness.

The series of works entitled “Eggsploration” is quite multifaceted and interwoven. There is a strong presence of the cycle and endless return, which is inherent to the symbol of the egg itself. Time, body, and experience are also imbued in the works in many ways. The work “Cicle” reflects on origin, the primordial, and the infinite; but above that, it speaks about the eternal—about those parts of us that exist beyond our bodies.

The second work draws reference from Sally Mann’s books of photographs “What Remains” and “Deep South”. The first series of photographs contains images of decomposing bodies, corpses which are swallowed by the land, while the other poetically depicts the hunting and majestic forest of South Virginia.
My work borrows the title “What remains” and depicts the land as both devourer and preserver, perpetuating an endless cycle of life and death, while itself playing a vital role in the “Eggsploration”’s habitat, where each of the artefacts has its own purpose and function. The function of the dead log placed in the forest is in fact the one of keeping the ecosystem balanced and running, supporting growth. The log is there to support the habitat of the fertile Self to keep space and time nutrient and running.
